Hello, I am Al Mustansir Billah Al Bakri, and I serve as the Head of Tax and Social Security at Salt & Associate Law Firm. Over the past eight years, I have dedicated myself to guiding clients through various legal matters, helping to build the firm’s reputation for excellence and reliability.

My Beginnings and Academic Journey

My journey in law began at the College of Law at the University of Baghdad, where I earned my Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree. During my time at the university, I developed a strong foundation in legal principles and practices. The rigorous academic environment and engaging discussions with professors and peers fuelled my passion for the legal profession and prepared me for the challenges of a legal career.

Professional Experience and Expertise

My professional path has taken me through some of Iraq’s leading law firms, including Hamurabi Law Firm, Al Jabouri Law Firm, and Al Nesoor Law Firm. Each of these roles provided invaluable experiences and allowed me to hone my skills in various aspects of corporate and civil law.

At these firms, I worked on a diverse range of legal issues, from corporate establishment and tax accounting to litigation and regulatory compliance. These experiences were instrumental in developing a comprehensive understanding of the legal landscape in Iraq and internationally. They also helped me build a robust skill set that includes strategic litigation and adept navigation of tax laws, which have been crucial in achieving favourable outcomes for my clients.

• Diplomatic Mission Assistance: I played a key role in assisting several Diplomatic Missions in Iraq, managing their legal affiliations and ensuring compliance with local regulations. This experience showcased my ability to handle sensitive and complex legal matters with precision and care.
• FMCG Tax Resolution: One of my significant achievements was resolving complex tax issues for a renowned FMCG company. By addressing Corporate Income Tax (CIT) challenges, I was able to secure favourable results, demonstrating my proficiency in corporate tax law and my commitment to achieving the best outcomes for my clients.
• Construction Case Triumph: Leading a major case for an Italian construction firm, I successfully managed to recover withheld tax. This case underscored my expertise in handling intricate tax disputes and my ability to navigate the complexities of international tax laws effectively.
