At Salt & Associates, we recognize the complex and often systemic challenges faced by women in Iraq, particularly in accessing legal rights and resources. To address these issues meaningfully, we have partnered with the Iraqi Women and the Future Organization to provide legal support, representation, and advocacy tailored to women’s specific needs.
Our firm is committed to taking on at least one pro bono case each month focused on women’s legal issues, including family disputes, employment discrimination, domestic violence, and property rights. We understand that many women face significant barriers to accessing legal assistance, and we believe that pro bono services play a critical role in bridging these gaps. By offering free legal counsel and representation, we aim to help ensure that women have the opportunity to pursue justice and protect their rights, regardless of their financial situation.
In addition to providing direct legal services, our firm also works to empower women through education and outreach initiatives. We conduct legal awareness workshops in collaboration with our partners, focusing on topics such as women’s rights under Iraqi law, legal remedies available for victims of domestic violence, labour protections, and property entitlements. These workshops are designed to equip women with the information they need to understand their rights, navigate the legal system confidently, and take proactive steps to secure their futures.
Our advocacy efforts extend beyond individual cases. We actively engage with policymakers, NGOs, and community organizations to address the underlying legal and societal issues that contribute to gender inequality. By working on advocacy campaigns, participating in dialogues about legal reform, and supporting initiatives that aim to enhance women’s rights, we hope to contribute to lasting systemic change that benefits not only individual women but the community as a whole.
Internally, our firm is committed to advancing gender equality through our own practices and policies. We strive to create an inclusive work environment where women are given equal opportunities for leadership roles and career advancement. By fostering diversity within our own ranks, we ensure that our team is representative of the community we serve and that we bring diverse perspectives to the legal challenges we address.
We are proud to be part of a broader movement towards empowering women in Iraq. Our commitment to handling pro bono cases is just one facet of our approach to promoting gender equality—our ultimate goal is to contribute to a society where all women have access to justice, are treated equally under the law, and are empowered to participate fully in both their personal and professional lives.
At Salt & Associates, we believe that true progress in women’s rights requires sustained and collaborative efforts. Through our partnerships, advocacy, and dedication to providing high-quality legal support, we are working towards a future where legal equality is a reality for all women in Iraq. This vision drives our ongoing initiatives and reaffirms our commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of women across the country.
