Pursuant to Article (201) of the Iraqi Companies Law No. (21) of 1997, as amended, which permits the use of a foreign language in addition to the company’s trade name registered in Arabic on its official documents and correspondence, and in light of the fact that many companies rely on English-language documentation in their communications with banks and external entities -particularly in relation to bank transfers – and in order to ensure the accuracy of the translation of the company’s trade name and to avoid any discrepancies when requesting authentication or certification of documents, you are hereby requested to provide the competent Directorate with the company’s trade name in a foreign language, accurately and consistently, for those companies that wish to do so or that maintain external dealings requiring the use of such name in their correspondence.
