Prior to joining Salt & Associates, Israa gained valuable experience at a leading Iraqi law firm, where she advised on the incorporation of Iraqi companies and the registration of foreign company branches. Her work included drafting constitutional and corporate documents, coordinating document legalization procedures, obtaining regulatory approvals, and completing company registration before the Iraqi Companies Registrar. She has successfully contributed to the establishment and registration of more than ten Iraqi and foreign companies across a broad range of industries.

Her practice extends beyond company formation to the ongoing management of corporate legal affairs. Israa regularly assists clients with corporate restructuring, amendments to constitutional documents, changes to shareholding structures, appointment and removal of authorised managers, maintenance of corporate records, branch compliance, and company liquidation procedures. She has also acted as legal liquidator for the Iraqi branch of an international technology company, overseeing the liquidation process and ensuring compliance with Iraqi legal and regulatory requirements.

Israa has extensive experience advising multinational companies on regulatory compliance matters, including tax, social security, import licensing, and sector-specific approvals. She works closely with Iraqi governmental authorities to ensure clients remain fully compliant with corporate, labour, and tax legislation. She has also supported international companies operating in the security sector, advising on their ongoing legal and regulatory obligations in Iraq.

Her intellectual property practice focuses on trademark registration and protection under the Iraqi Trademarks and Commercial Data Law No. 21 of 1957 (as amended). She has handled the registration of approximately twenty trademarks for Iraqi and international clients, managing the registration process from initial filing through to the issuance of trademark certificates before the Ministry of Industry and Minerals.

In addition, Israa advises clients on employment-related regulatory matters, including social security registration, employee enrolment, payroll compliance, tax registration, tax clearance procedures, import licences, and other regulatory approvals required for conducting business in Iraq.

Alongside her legal practice, Israa has demonstrated a strong academic interest in international law. During her studies, she represented the University of Baghdad in the Tenth Arab Moot Court Competition held in Kuwait, where her team was awarded first place among participating Arab universities. This experience further strengthened her legal research, advocacy, and legal drafting skills.
